Global Clean Power Taskforce

Making the Case: Pathway to Progress

Why This Taskforce and its Report Matters

At a time of increasing political volatility and widespread misinformation about climate and energy, the Global Clean Power Taskforce Report set the record straight. Drawing on real-world case studies from businesses, communities, and countries around the globe, it demonstrated that the shift to clean energy was not only achievable, but it was also already well underway. Tripling global renewable energy capacity by 2030 is an enormous undertaking. Signalling intent has been the easy part. The Taskforce made the case that the emphasis had to shift to delivery, on the ground, at an unprecedented pace. The report serves as a call to action for policymakers, investors, and stakeholders alike: to build on the momentum already established and accelerate toward a more sustainable, secure, and equitable energy future.

What the Taskforce Addressed

The Taskforce identified six interconnected challenges and set out concrete pathways to solve them.

  1. Phasing Out Fossil Fuels: How the world harnessed the global opportunities created by clean power.
  2. Mobilising Supply Chains: How sustainable supply chains were built and vulnerabilities mitigated.
  3. Advancing Tech Innovation: How the deployment of innovative energy solutions was accelerated.
  4. Unlocking Finance: How annual investment in renewable power capacity moved toward the tripling required.
  5. Streamlining Permitting: How policy and regulatory reform drove faster approvals at scale.
  6. Building Grid Capacity: How grid investment and reform were advanced to meet growing demand.

Report launched at COP30 in Brazil – November 2025

The Global Clean Power Taskforce Report was launched at COP30, a timely moment to present practical evidence and real-world progress to an international audience of policymakers, investors, business and climate stakeholders. Co-chaired by two respected voices on energy and climate, the Taskforce brought together global expertise to cut through political noise and highlight the tangible progress already being made in the energy transition.
