The scale of the task to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030 is enormous. Signalling intent was the easy bit – now the emphasis has to be on delivery of projects on the ground at an unprecedented pace.
Co-chaired by Chris Skidmore and Former UNFCCC Executive Secretary Ambassador Patricia Espinosa, the Clean Power Taskforce will focus on accelerating practical implementation over the next five years, laying out the rationale for clean power as a driver of economic growth and energy security and countering the narrative that the transition is too expensive.
Building on the strong collective expertise, knowledge, data and influence of our members, the Taskforce will promote the enabling environment for the uptake of renewables and financial mechanisms that support investment.
Taskforce Priority Areas
- Phasing out fossil fuels – How can we grab the global opportunities clean power brings?
- Mobilising supply chains – How can we best build sustainable supply chains and mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities?
- Advancing tech innovation – How we speed up the deployment of innovative energy solutions?
- Unlocking finance – How can we triple annual average investments in renewable power capacity, as required?
- Streamlining permitting – How can we facilitate policy and regulatory support to streamline permitting and approvals?
- Building grid capacity – How can we best accelerate grid investment and reform?
