About the Climate Action Coalition

The Coalition was established in partnership with the Rt Hon Chris Skidmore OBE and Climate Action.

Chris Skidmore is the former UK Energy Minister who signed the UK’s landmark Net Zero target into law in 2019 and subsequently chaired the country’s Net Zero Review. He is regarded as one of the leading voices for climate action in the UK.

Climate Action is a mission-led business dedicated to facilitating collaboration to accelerate global climate action. It runs a series of high-profile events including the Climate Action Innovation Zone at COP, London Climate Action Week and Climate Week NYC.

The Coalition is an inclusive, collaborative initiative, with members from diverse industry sectors and geographies, including climate champions already spearheading global climate action to businesses needing help transitioning to a 1.5°C pathway.

In addition to members from the private sector, the Coalition will convene leading NGOs, IGOs, UN Agencies, governments and academic institutions looking to collaborate and share their knowledge and expertise. These include IRENA, Mission Innovation, Sustainable Energy for All, Global Renewables Alliance, Energy Transitions Commission, UK Green Building Council, and World Green Building Council.

Why is it needed?

2030 Is Key

2030 is a critical milestone for global climate action. To align with the goals of the Paris Agreement and limit global warming to 1.5°C, global emissions must be reduced by 43%. With just five years to go, it is imperative that we focus on the delivery of transformative climate action, at speed and scale.

Breaking Down Silos

We must work collaboratively to overcome siloes between government and business, we must share expertise across sectors and borders, and we must synergise the impacts of policy developments with climate solutions.

Year Round Impact

Organisations must be able to actively engage, learn and share year-round. The Coalition builds on Climate Action’s portfolio of high-profile events which bring together leaders from business, policy and finance at key moments in the global climate calendar.
